Telecommunicator CPR Survivor Story

In this cardiac arrest survivor story, Jesse and Dave Woolley-Wilson describe how telephone CPR saved Dave’s life.

When Jesse found Dave collapsed on the floor of their office and realized he wasn’t breathing, she immediately dialed 9-1-1. The dispatcher who answered, Courtney McDaniel, established the need for telephone CPR and talked Jesse through performing compressions on her husband. Jesse performed compressions on Dave with Courtney for four and a half minutes until the EMTs arrived, enabling oxygenated blood to continue flowing through Dave’s body.

Jesse and Courtney’s compressions, the EMT’s timely arrival, and the doctors and nurses at the hospital all worked together to give Dave a second chance at life. Thanks to their actions, Dave is a cardiac arrest survivor.
